Travel Information

Caithness, East Sutherland and Easter Ross are all served by train from Inverness, with 3 or 4 trains each way every day (1 each way on a Sunday). The line passes through many towns and villages including Dingwall, Invergordon, Tain, Lairg, Golspie and Helmsdale. It swings inland along the Strath of Kildonan (home of Scotland's Gold Rush) before crossing the unique Flow Country (the largest area of blanket bog in Europe). It reaches the bustling town of Thurso (with a ferry connection to Orkney) before finally arriving at Wick - once the herring capital of Europe.
